Responsibilities

Help improve our chemical processes, focusing on yield/process capacity improvements, waste reductions, cycle time reductions, cost improvements and/or modification/design of equipment.

Troubleshoot and provide recommendations for mechanical equipment, improving reliability and cost associated with a process area's mechanical equipment design, installation and start-up of automatic process control, material handling and distributive control systems.

Assist engineers in developing project objectives and scope by analyzing customer requirements and producing sketches, drawings, written descriptions or specifications for customer approval.

Ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures, OSHA/EPA standards, plant safety standards, pressure safety design and environmental standards on all projects.

Work with other engineers to gain insight into maintenance and reliability improvement programs in chemical plants.

Perform and check engineering calculations following standard methods and principles for projects.

May assist with the procurement process of equipment specifications, bid evaluation and contract administration.

Assist with conducting engineering cost, feasibility and planning studies, analyzing customer needs and data, researching actions and coordinating with other engineers to provide recommendations to the customer.

Collaborate with production and technical staff on day-to-day activities such as process troubleshooting and problem solving.

Work with all areas of operations and compliance organizations to drive attainment of project goals.

Aid the implementation of Operational Excellence programs and support Process Improvement/Lean Manufacturing site-wide.

Required Qualifications

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Successfully completed sophomore year or higher.

Ability to drive to and from the work location.

Willingness to work in a chemical plant environment.

Ability to work 40 hours per week and be physically willing and able to climb stairs and ladders.

Available for a 6-month Co-Op assignment for Spring 2026 (January to June) or Fall 2026 (May/June to December) with accommodations for schools on the quarter system as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Salary and benefits: Bayer offers a competitive compensation package. Employees can expect a salary of approximately between $23.20 and $44.20 per hour, plus potential bonus or commission (if applicable). Benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO and sick leave. Salaries are estimates and may vary by location, data, skills, experience, and other factors.
