American Society for Virology
A postdoctoral position is available at the Emory University School of Medicine to work on one of several ongoing NIH-funded projects to delineate virus-host factor interactions during enveloped virus entry and egress. The focus is on entry, uncoating and trafficking of HIV-1, Influenza Virus, and arenaviruses, as well as on HIV-1 protease activation and maturation.
We combine molecular/cell biology/virology approaches with quantitative microscopy techniques, including super-resolution microscopy, and correlative light-cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-CLEM), to elucidate key steps of the viral life cycle and the mechanism of virus restriction by host factors.
Highly motivated individuals holding a Ph.D. degree in virology, cell biology, biophysics or related fields are encouraged to apply. Microscopy experience is preferred. Emory University provides excellent training and a collaborative environment for research.
Interested applicants should contact Dr. Gregory Melikian (aka Melikyan) at gmeliki@emory.edu.
