Position Summary We are seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach an asynchronous online course on Heritage Risk Management and Security for the Cultural Heritage Management MA program. The ideal candidate will have theoretical knowledge and practical experience in risk management, security studies, or related fields. Prior to teaching the course in Summer 2026, the candidate will co‑teach with an existing faculty mentor during the spring of 2026 to gain familiarity with the program’s learning outcomes, students, and course management system. After this mentorship period, the candidate will assume full responsibility for teaching the course in the summer of 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Co‑teach an asynchronous online course on Heritage Risk Management and Security with a faculty mentor during the spring of 2026.

Assume full responsibility for designing, delivering, and assessing the course in the summer of 2026.

Foster collaborative discussions and prepare students to contribute meaningfully to global heritage preservation.

Minimum Qualifications

Advanced degree in a relevant field; master’s degree at minimum.

At least three years of professional work experience in heritage management or disaster mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree in a relevant field.

1–3 years of graduate‑level teaching experience.

Five years of professional work experience in heritage management or disaster mitigation.

Strong interest in advising graduate students interested in a career in the heritage sector.

Salary Range The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
