Overview
The Wine Sales Representative at Karmo, Inc. will be responsible for developing and expanding our market footprint in retail outlets (liquor/wine stores) and restaurant on-premise accounts (bars, fine dining, wine bars, hotels). This role is primarily focused on building a robust sales pipeline, cold calling/prospecting, account acquisition, and account development. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about wine, has excellent relationship-building skills, and is driven by results. Responsibilities
Identify, prospect, and develop new retail accounts (liquor stores, wine shops, specialty beverage retailers) and restaurant/on-premise accounts (fine dining, bars, hotels). Build and manage a sales pipeline: track leads, follow up, nurture prospects until they convert to active accounts. Conduct site visits, tastings, and presentations to retail buyers, restaurant managers, wine directors, and other decision-makers. Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional programs with accounts. Collaborate with management to plan and execute promotions, tastings, and events at retail and restaurant locations. Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer feedback; provide actionable insights to leadership. Aim to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and growth metrics. Maintain accurate data, forecasts, and pipeline updates. Coordinate with management teams to ensure orders are fulfilled and delivered as promised. Assist with training retail and restaurant staff on wine education, product knowledge, merchandising, and upselling techniques. Attend trade shows, wine expos, and industry events as required. Qualifications & Skills
Required: 2–5 years of alcoholic beverage/wine or spirits sales experience (preferably with exposure to both off-premise and on-premise accounts). Proven track record of new account acquisition and growing sales in a territory. Strong sales pipeline/prospecting skills (cold calling, warm leads, networking). Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written). Deep interest in wine, willingness to learn varieties, terroirs, food pairings, and wine service. Ability to travel within assigned territory (driving, in-person client calls). Ability to manage forecasts and sales analytics. Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and goal-oriented. Preferred / Nice-to-have: WSET, CMS, or other wine certification(s). Prior experience with restaurant wine programs, sommeliers, or beverage directors. Understanding of state and local alcohol regulations, licensing, and compliance. Existing relationships or network in the wine/beverage industry in the assigned region. What You’ll Bring to Karmo
