General Description Responsible for safely and efficiently operating lowboy tractor trailers moving heavy construction equipment, such as skids, large loaders, rollers, and pavers. Also responsible for driving multi-axle highway equipment with GVWR exceeding 26,001 pounds to transport construction materials. This role is suitable for individuals experienced in moving construction equipment and knowledgeable of current DOT regulations and permitting requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
Transport materials and equipment to specified destinations.
Secure loads with blocks, tie ropes, and other devices during transit.
Load and unload trucks.
Maintain and inspect truck equipment and supplies for roadworthiness.
Report needed repairs to supervisors.
Perform minor roadside repairs in emergencies.
Ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness.
Verify load types and weights.
Communicate effectively with other operators and drivers to meet delivery schedules.
Keep trucks clean and operational.
Perform minor repairs and servicing of equipment daily.
Essential Functions Requires coordination skills to operate truck controls, sharp vision to monitor surroundings, quick reaction to signals, physical ability to climb, lift, and carry 15-30 pounds, and the ability to sit or drive for most of a 10-12 hour shift with some standing or walking.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years' experience operating lowboy tractor trailers with heavy construction equipment.
Valid Class A CDL.
Clean driving record.
Strong safety record.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, background check, motor vehicle records check, and DOT Physical.
