Tableau Administrator with Linux/Windows and AWS Experience Location: St Louis, MO Duration: Long Term We are seeking an experienced
Tableau Administrator
with a strong background in
Linux and Windows system administration , as well as hands-on experience with
Amazon Web Services (AWS) . The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing Tableau environments, ensuring high availability, performance tuning, user and content administration, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for deployments and upgrades. In addition, the role requires managing the underlying infrastructure on both cloud and on-prem environments. Responsibilities
Tableau Administration
– Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop across environments. Manage Tableau Server users, groups, permissions, and site roles. Monitor server health, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting. Automate tasks using Tableau command line tools and REST APIs. Coordinate Tableau patching, backups, and restore operations. Collaborate with BI teams to deploy dashboards and data sources. Support content migration between development, test, and production environments. Linux/Windows System Administration
– Manage and maintain servers running on both
Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
and
Windows Server
operating systems. Handle OS-level troubleshooting, scripting, and automation (e.g., using Bash, PowerShell). Perform system upgrades, patch management, and performance tuning. Maintain security best practices and compliance standards across OS environments. AWS Administration
– Provision and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.) used for Tableau hosting and data integration. Automate infrastructure deployments using tools like AWS CLI, CloudFormation, or Terraform. Optimize cost and performance of cloud-hosted environments. Ensure proper IAM role and policy management, as well as secure connectivity between Tableau and AWS data sources. Required Qualifications
7 years of experience in Tableau Server administration. Strong experience with both
Linux
and
Windows
system administration. 3+ years of hands-on experience in managing
AWS infrastructure . Proficiency in scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python is a plus). Experience with Tableau upgrades, distributed installations, and clustering. Understanding of Tableau metadata and PostgreSQL repository. Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP integration with Tableau Server. Experience with monitoring tools and log analysis (Tableau Server logs, AWS CloudWatch, etc.). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
