Position: UI/UX Designer Location: Austin, TX 78751 (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote) Onsite days: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays Duration: 12 Months (with possible extension) Description: The role of UI/UX designers is central to improving accessibility, usability, and responsiveness of the HHSC eligibility systems. Key responsibilities

Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization. Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with established accessibility guidelines and branding standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI/UX design. Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure design decisions are aligned with business objectives. Employ a comprehensive suite of tools—including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar—and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimization strategies. Design interfaces for systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with a focus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles. Design for complex business logic and regulatory requirements, particularly in domains like government services, healthcare, or finance. Develop data visualizations to present complex data and AI insights clearly. Advocate for user-centered design principles; communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Ensure accessibility by applying WCAG and other accessibility guidelines. Bonus: Experience with eligibility determination systems or similar rule-based, data-intensive applications. Required Skills

4 years — Hands-on experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems (wireframes, prototypes, visual hierarchies) using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch. 4 years — Collaboration with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive design solutions that meet accessibility and branding standards. 4 years — Application of UX design principles (hierarchy, contrast, alignment) to create responsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces. 4 years — Experience creating wireframes and prototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions. Preferred

5 years — Experience designing graphical diagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and system architecture. 3 years — Facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs. 3 years — Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted. 3 years — Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple design streams across concurrent work efforts. Additional information
