Primary Responsibility The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College are here to assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available which complement the teaching process. The faculty members need to be committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. Although teaching is the most important role of the faculty, the needs of our learners are also served when faculty are engaged in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities. The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees with a focus on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students. CMC does not conduct research but emphasizes excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for dynamic classroom experiences and excellent academic opportunities and student support. Pre-requisites For Position (Qualifications Standards) Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include: A minimum of a master’s degree in a specific degree for the position being recruited or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, marketing). Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Higher education teaching experience is preferred. An applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties of the position. Special skills or abilities include knowledge of pedagogy, teaching experience equivalent to two years, strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and analyze data effectively. Minimum Qualifications Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities are preferred. Essential Duties All faculty are expected to: Teach assigned courses and evaluate student learning. Meet course and program outcomes and maintain office hours. Develop rapport with students and staff, and participate in advising, orientation, and registration activities. Engage in scholarly activities, service, committee participation, mentorship, assessment, and student recruitment. Maintain accurate records and represent the college professionally. Participate in professional development for credentialing. Supervision of the Position This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee. Supervisory Responsibility The position may supervise student employees. Special Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a background check and adherence to safety policies are required. Travel and evening/weekend hours may be necessary. Working Conditions The role involves sitting, walking, standing, driving, handling objects, reaching, lifting, and using a computer and office equipment.
