Insurance Senior Accountant
to join its accounting and finance team in Clearwater, FL. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive environment. Applicants will apply GAAP and statutory (SAP) accounting principles to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and analysis across a diverse portfolio of insurance operations. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements and journal entries for general ledger accounts. Ensure accurate recording of earned, assumed, and ceded premiums. Prepare NAIC quarterly and annual filings in compliance with statutory requirements. Produce reinsurance settlement statements and calculate quarterly premium taxes across multiple states. Conduct variance and ratio analysis; present findings to senior leadership. Reconcile bank accounts and intercompany loans to ensure data integrity. Prepare balance sheets, P&L statements, and management reports to summarize financial performance. Audit financial transactions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SAP, and internal policies. Identify and implement process improvements, including automation where possible. Assist with regulatory filings and tax reporting at the federal, state, and local levels. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required). Minimum 4 years of accounting experience. At least 2 years in the insurance industry. Minimum 2 years of statutory accounting experience. Minimum 4 years of GAAP accounting experience. LOMA or similar insurance designation is an asset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with QuickBooks, Access, or Clearwater Analytics is a plus. Familiarity with commission reporting systems such as APL preferred. Core Competencies
