Coach - CIF Sports Referee
(CIF Referee) Start Date: 10/15/2025 End Date: 06/05/2026 Expected Hourly Rate: $45 Schedule: Monday: No work; Tuesday–Thursday: 3:30pm – 6:30pm; Friday/Saturday: No work Location: Montebello, CA area (as listed in job postings)
Responsibilities
Serve as a sports referee for elementary-aged students across sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, kickball, and more. Support kids’ behavioral management needs. Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and fellow coaches. Be a positive role model to students to build self-esteem and emotional wellness.
About You — Qualifications
Required: California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Certification Required: Referee experience Experience working with elementary and/or middle school kids Ability to manage groups of up to 20 students with minimal assistance Ability to improvise, adapt, and take initiative Approachable, empathetic, patient, and able to build trust with kids Confident leader and positive role model Ability to connect with students and foster positive learning experiences Attention to student needs and ability to adjust activities accordingly Ensure activities run smoothly within allocated timeframes
Additional Requirements
Must be eligible to work in the United States, complete and pass a Live-Scan background check, and TB screening 6–12 months of referee experience preferred Must have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
Constant movement to accomplish tasks or move between locations Sitting or standing for long periods Occasional running and other strenuous physical activity Ability to move safely on irregular and/or uneven terrain
