NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) Job Summary: Responsible for the receipt, sorting, processing and distributing of outgoing, incoming mail and packages. Responsibilities
Picks up and delivers incoming and outgoing mail daily to out-lining locations and the U.S. Postal Service. Processes incoming and outgoing mail in accordance with established procedures and various courier regulations (USPS, FEDEX, UPS, DHL). Receives articles to be mailed or express delivery. Processes in accordance with established procedures and maintains copy of Express Mail Service receipts for reference. Sorts incoming mail for distribution to appropriate offices and Exchanges; reads and routes mail to a substantial number of points or individuals. Operates mail room machines (e.g., Pitney postage meter, Pitney Bowes Send Pro, Pitney Bowes Send Suite applications); performs routine servicing and corrects simple operational malfunctions. Collects, arranges, files and maintains a variety of documents in accordance with established procedures; maintains number control logs of documents received. Maintains various logs related to postage machine checks; maintains a locator system and provides directory service for mail. Assists with conference rooms and vehicle reservations. Assists with Building Emergency Drills; Front Access Control Rep (FACR) relief during normal working hours; maintains sign-in/out and visitor logs if required. May operate a motor vehicle in picking up and delivering mail/messages in accordance with procedures. May be required to lift supplies and material up to 50 pounds with assistance of mailroom lift equipment. Works under general supervision; performs work independently within established policies; reviews for accuracy and timeliness; refers unusual problems to supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements
Must operate a motor vehicle in inclement weather. Must possess a valid state driver’s license or a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL). Must possess office skills and computer knowledge. Experience/Education
Six months of responsible clerical or office work, or substitution of education for experience: Graduation from a full 4-year college or senior high school or possession of a GED. Location
