Position Purpose / Important Application Information The Assistant Golf Professional is an hourly position that works at either Walnut Creek Golf Preserve or Legacy Ridge Golf Course. Walnut Creek Golf Preserve is a high-volume golf course with 35,000-plus rounds per year. Legacy Ridge is a high-volume golf course with 37,000-plus rounds per year. This position will include all areas of the golf business, including working in the golf shop, cart barn, practice facility and inside/outside guest services.
The availability of work hours for this position will be determined by these factors: program length, weather and budget. The full salary range for this position is stated above, and the starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.
Responsibilities
Assists with tournament operations, day-to-day golf shop operations and golf shop guest services including point of sale cash sales, telephone reservations, golf shop inventory/sales and merchandising, golf club repair, GHIN handicapping for events and outside guest services, including golf cart and practice facility operations.
Helps coordinate golf activities with the Merchandise and Food/Beverage staff to provide maximum service and enhance per round revenue.
Opens and closes the golf shop, cart barn and practice facility, nightly general ledger/cash turn-ins, cart and range work, and sees that all day-to-day operations are performed in accordance with daily policy and procedures.
Helps coordinate, plan and execute all aspects of the golf operation with the Head Golf Professional in order to provide first class service, enhance guests experience and enforce all golf course policies and procedures in order to maximize per round revenue.
Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or GED.
A valid driver’s license and proof of a safe driving record.
Preferred:
Experience in daily golf shop, cart fleet and practice area operations.
PGA Member or registered Associate in the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) Program.
One year of college level coursework.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sit, stand and walk through a multi-level facility.
Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, twist, climb, balance and reach over head.
Occasionally lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Frequently use hands and fingers for fine manipulation; occasionally use light and firm grasp.
Frequently see objects up close to perform office tasks and far away to observe activity for safety hazards or problems.
Constantly use hearing to interact with guests and staff and recognize trouble outside of view.
Occasionally use sufficient physical strength, stamina and agility to perform emergency work in various capacities.
Working Conditions Work is constantly performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures. This is a high public contact position having frequent exposure to a very fast-paced environment.
