Position Title: Junior District Accountant.
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer.
Coordinates with: Central administration, principals, assistant principals, financial secretaries, and city/state agencies.
Work year: Full Year, Full Time (260 Days).
Compensation: $55,000 – $60,000 per year.
Overall Responsibilities The Junior District Accountant works alongside the Chief Operating Officer, District Accountant, and the Business Services Manager to manage the District’s fund accounting, budgeting, reconciliations, monthly grant billing, special revenue funds, audits, and project compliance with GAAP, federal and state laws.
Qualifications
Associate degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, business services management, or budgeting; experience in municipal or fund accounting is preferred.
Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written skills, and detail oriented.
Strong systems knowledge of Excel, Adobe, Outlook.
Prior experience with Lawson, Workday, Kronos, or equivalent accounting systems is preferred.
Prior experience with collective bargaining agreements is beneficial.
Responsibilities
Apply GAAP to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports per the NH Financial Accounting Handbook.
Read and interpret accounting statements, business correspondences, government regulations, contracts, and procedure manuals.
Assist in overseeing the district’s accounting system in conjunction with the City of Nashua Finance Department.
Assist with the annual audit process of all funds and other audits performed during the year.
Assist in preparing monthly reports for Finance & Operations meeting agenda; include projections on budgetary accounts for year‑end analysis.
Prepare, analyze, and ensure accuracy of financial statements, grants, reports, and statistical documents submitted to and received from subordinates and local, state, and federal agencies.
Work cooperatively in all professional associations.
Perform all responsibilities in accordance with District POPPS policies and in an ethical and professional manner.
Assist the Chief Operating Officer in any business‑related activities and any other duties as assigned.
