Cost Accountant
Shift: 1st Shift
Job Description Primarily focused on inventory, this position will help ensure that the relevant corporate policy and internal controls / cost accounting roadmap is administered within the site, and will work with the site finance representative over inventory. Results, analysis, and actions will be communicated back to a diverse and multi-functional management team. This position will also assist in daily/weekly reporting activities, some month‑end close functions, as well as forecasting/budgeting as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain adequate inventory
Analyze open/closed work order variances and follow up as required
Review inventory scrap and other adjustments for accuracy
Review invoice price variances and make adjustments as necessary
Periodic product costing and product margin analysis
Ad‑hoc labor hours/dollar adjustments to WIP orders
Perform the periodic settlements of production orders
Support Operations team by providing results of Key Business Metrics
Support Sales Team with cost estimates periodic product line margin analysis
Support company controller in cost controls, financial analysis, and accounting procedures as needed
Support Finance and Sarbanes‑Oxley Audits as needed
Education & Experience Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
Minimum 2 years of work experience in cost accounting/business analysis.
Past experience in manufacturing environment required.
Other Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
Proven skills in problem analysis and resolution
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
High level of analytical competency and math skills; ability to organize and interpret data
Proficient with Excel: spreadsheet management, pivot tables, VLOOKUP
Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to changing situations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with shop floor supervision and support functions
Ability to handle multiple projects and daily activities
Must be organized, resourceful, self‑motivated and able to work independently
Bachelor's Degree in business or closely related field preferred
Persistent commitment to continuous improvement
Technical skills in account reconciliation, cost analysis and month‑end close responsibilities a plus
Excellent communication skills
High‑performance team member and strong team player
Ability to meet deadlines
