Job Responsibilities Directly responsible for the accounting functions of the agency, including oversight of all accounts receivable and healthcare billing operations, with an emphasis on behavioral health coding and reimbursement.
Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Jackson County Finance Director (or their designee) to prepare reports such as departmental budgets, cash projections, and board financials in accordance with GAAP. Prepare productivity reports for submission to the Executive Director. Perform weekly analysis of cash position. Assist in preparing the agency's annual budget and Cost Report for submission to the Department of Health, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. Update Financial Services Monthly Checklist as duties are completed. Ensure timely behavioral health billing and claims processing. Monitor agency cash flow, maintain sufficient funds in active accounts, and advise the Executive Director on financial strategies. Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with GAAP. Develop and review grant proposals, assess their feasibility, and prepare all grant RFP applications and monthly cash requests. Ensure compliance with behavioral health coding and billing regulations. Collaborate on all required financial reporting to ensure adherence to GAAP. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Education Required
Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Experience with healthcare coding and billing.
Experience developing budgets and securing grants for agency operations.
Working knowledge of GAAP standards and financial reporting requirements.
Preferred
Experience with behavioral health care coding and billing.
Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing practices for behavioral health services.
