Automotive Controller
for a well-established, family-owned dealership group located north of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This role is available due to the retirement of the current Controller after 30 successful years with the dealer group. It\'s a turn-key opportunity with clean books, ideal for a Controller looking for long-term stability and a place to call home until their own retirement. This is a great chance to join a team-oriented environment in a low cost of living area known for its strong sense of community and quality of life. The successful candidate is an experienced Automotive Comptroller that is well-versed in all areas of dealership accounting and is a hands on leader. The Controller hired will be responsible to complete the month-end close and submit the financial statements to the factory. Moreover, the Controller hired needs to be strong with bank recs, cleaning schedules, and management of their team. It\'s important that the dealership Controller is a positive leader and trainer to their accounting team, promoting cross-training and team development. Experience with CDK is a plus. Responsibilities
Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions for the dealership(s) Prepare and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements Manage cash flow and maintain proper internal controls Supervise and support accounting office staff, including A/R, A/P, title clerks, and payroll Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements Prepare financial statements and submit to ownership and/or corporate leadership Work closely with the General Manager and department heads on budgeting and forecasting Maintain and monitor schedules (warranty, contracts in transit, etc.) Oversee sales tax, payroll tax, and other tax filings Train and develop accounting team members and provide cross-functional support when needed Monitor and maintain dealership compliance with manufacturer and lender financial requirements Collaborate with outside auditors during year-end reviews or audits Ensure proper documentation and handling of vehicle inventory transactions Implement and maintain dealership accounting policies and procedures Use DMS – CDK - to manage accounting operations efficiently Other duties as required Compensation
Compensation package in the $105,000 - $115,000 range depending on experience and track record. Full benefits package provided Relocation Candidates
