Job Summary & Responsibilities Schedule: Monday‑Thursday, 6:30 AM ‑ 5:00 PM (on‑call rotation every 8 weeks). The Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and installs instrumentation and electrical equipment in a bioprocessing facility. The role follows electrical codes, tests and inspects work, and reviews procedures to support continuous plant operation and 24/7 schedules.
Identify root causes and repair or replace parts, rewire and install related instrument/electrical goods including conduit and wiring.
Follow all local electrical codes and test instruments for 4160 V, 480 V, 220 V, 110 V, 24 V DC and 4 – 20 mA loops.
Troubleshoot PLC/DCS I/O (4 – 20 mA loops, 120 V/24 DC I/O).
Perform preventative and proactive electrical maintenance and compliance procedures.
Assist with emergency and scheduled shutdowns, while performing scheduled mechanical duties.
Calibrate, configure, and repair measurement/control instruments for flow, level, pressure, temperature, pH and associated valve actuators.
Maintain instrument and parts inventories, record calibration logs, and coordinate with contractors as needed.
Document and record work orders, inventory control, and maintenance activities.
Maintain licensing and attend required code classes; support training of new team members.
Respond to after‑hours, weekend and holiday emergencies involving electronic or instrument/electrical systems.
Promote a culture of safety, environmental compliance and teamwork across the facility.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Strengths of a Successful Candidate
Associate’s degree in electrical training or equivalent; Journeyman or Master license preferred.
Knowledge of standard electrical equipment and work practices.
Experience with 4160 V, 480 V, 220 V, 110 V motors, breakers, protective relays, PLCs, transformers, motor control centers and panels.
Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new programs.
Preferable Experience
Reading PLC code, schematic wiring, ladder and P&ID process diagrams.
Industrial network experience.
Minimum 1 – 3 years of related work experience; experience with 3‑phase electrical systems up to 4160 V.
Work Environment Self‑directed, high‑noise, dusty conditions with moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. The role requires physical labor such as lifting up to 60 lb, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods. Random drug and alcohol testing is conducted throughout employment.
