The Accounting Team within the Accounting Operations Group is seeking a Senior Lease Accountant to assist in overseeing lease accounting. This role will partner with the Facilities and Procurement teams to maintain tracking and reporting processes, controls and technology to ensure compliance with the Lease Accounting Standard (ASC 842). How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Play a key role in the process and controls to comply with ASC 842, maintaining a repository of lease agreements and key contractual terms to facilitate reporting requirements. Partner with the Financial Systems team to administer source system and maintain appropriate master data controls. Ensure the completeness and accuracy of lease records in the source system. Serve as a subject matter expert on Lease Accounting. Directly assist with the monthly close process for leases, ensuring the required journal entries are recorded and the information required for financial disclosures is compiled. Assist in drafting SEC financial disclosures on quarterly and annual basis. Support the review and reconciliation of flow code accounting entries. Provide support in researching and addressing control check discrepancies. Maintain the key performance metrics related to quality and accuracy of the lease accounting process. Lead policy, process and tool training for key stakeholders. Lead external auditors through testing and auditing of the Lease Accounting Standard Ensure adherence to process and accurate completion of all work Review new lease agreements for appropriate accounting treatment. Prepare monthly reconciliations timely and in accordance with accounting policies Partner with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement. Assist internal stakeholders to ensure timely payments are performed to lessors Support internal business partners on lease accounting aspects and be a point of reference for questions pertaining to lease accounting What you need to succeed:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience with a large company, ideally with fixed asset or lease accounting experience. Microsoft Office Skills with an emphasis in Excel ERP systems experience. Comprehensive understanding of various integrated financial and accounting systems. Proactive/self-driven work habits with demonstrated ability to lead change and improve processes. Problem solving/analytical skills. Knowledge of FASB and SOX compliance Ability to research technical accounting issues and propose solutions Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communications capabilities. Ability to work collaboratively across the organization Strong attention to detail Ability to adapt to a changing and fast-paced work environment Must be flexible and able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines Strong organizational skills Strong work ethic and integrity to behave in accordance with the Company’s values and operating principles What we offer:
