Senior SEC Financial Reporting Accountant
Dallas, TX - hybrid, 3 days onsite Vaco has a rare opening for one of our Fortune 500 clients on the financial reporting team, located in the highly-demanded North Dallas area. This is for a long-time client of ours and offers a great culture (people rarely leave!). Responsibilities include traditional SEC reporting duties (preparing filings, drafting footnotes, disclosures, earnings releases, etc.) and Lease Accounting, including preparing 842 schedules, lease contracts/amendments, asset and liability positions, and monthly entries. Prepare and file quarterly (10-Q), annual (10-K), and other SEC reports (8-K, S-1, S-3, etc.) in compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP requirements. Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits. Research and analyze complex accounting issues; prepare technical accounting memos as needed. Research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842, ASC 606, ASC 326) and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders. Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SEC developments; assess and communicate potential impacts. Support the preparation of earnings releases and investor relations materials. Maintain and update XBRL tagging for financial statements and footnotes. Collaborate with legal, investor relations, and FP&A departments to ensure accurate disclosures. Assist in developing and implementing internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance). Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related; CPA preferred. 2-5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) or in a public company reporting role. Hands-on SEC filings and financial statement preparation experience. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance. Proficiency in Excel; experience with Workiva, Wdesk, or similar SEC reporting software is a plus.
