What you’ll be doing As an Excess Casualty Senior Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and resolving AXA XL's excess casualty claims. You will work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution and will interact and collaborate frequently with Regional Practice Leaders and the Underwriting team. Together, you will be tasked with achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

Essential Responsibilities

Managing assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions, as well as setting the case strategy for these claims in partnership with Regional Practice Leaders and Claims management.

Obtaining the coverage determinations of underlying carriers and analyzing the applicability of coverage to the facts of each claim under the terms of the AXA XL policy.

Establishing and maintaining close communications with underlying carriers and defense counsel, providing input and direction as warranted, to protect the interests of the insured and AXA XL.

Partnering with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and cost‑efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation and analyzing coverage issues as warranted.

Assisting underwriters with policy drafting initiatives, as well as new business and renewal meetings.

Coordinating and managing communications with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors, etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer service.

Producing internal reporting and ensuring that reserves are set according to best practice guidelines.

Identifying, monitoring and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends.

Qualifications

Advanced Casualty Claims Experience is a plus.

Effective communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Able to negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of sophistication.

Collaborative approach: Develop productive working relationships with insured, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters and legal counsel. Seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible. Capable of working and collaborating with a virtual team.

Ethics: Handle responsibilities with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.

Passion for results: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs. Think quickly and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality. Act with a sense of urgency.

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
