This role is part of the Rigid Packaging North American Shared Services group and reports to the Cost Accounting Manager. The Regional Cost Accountant will support resin and inventory operations across North America, focusing on standard costing, variance analysis and month‑end close activities. The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation, strong systems aptitude (preferably SAP) and the ability to analyze complex data sets. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives and cross‑functional collaboration with operations, plant leadership and finance teams. Essential Responsibilities And Duties
Standard Setting & Budgeting
Execute and maintain standard costs across designated plants. Assist in setting standards for new products, including material cost and activity rates. Revalue activity rates and analyze material usage variances and yields. Assess Bill of Materials and activity allocations for impact on standard costs. Coordinate year end cost roll schedule. Accounting & Month‑End Close
Participate in monthly close processes including journal entries, financial statement reviews and GL reconciliations. Ensure completion of inventory and production orders, reconciling physical, perpetual and general ledger records. Review cost components to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Maintain and enhance internal controls related to inventory cost and quantity accuracy. Variance Analysis & Reporting
Prepare and communicate absorption and manufacturing variance reports. Compare actual results to forecast, budget and prior year data. Collaborate with plant leadership to interpret results and gather insights. Plant Support & Consolidation
Serve as primary contact for plants on standard cost and variance analysis. Partner with plant controllers to investigate root causes and provide commentary. Other Activities
Support and enforce inventory related internal controls. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Support internal and external audits and activities related to quarterly reporting periods and statutory closing requirements. Support other ad‑hoc activities as required / necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. 1‑4 years of accounting experience in a standard costing environment. Strong accounting foundation, including a solid understanding of US GAAP inventory rules and requirements. Strong systems aptitude with preference given to candidates with SAP experience. Ability to analyze and manage large data sets in Excel and other query‑type databases. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Unrelenting integrity and ethics. Effective team player who interacts well with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of clearly articulating thoughts. Ability to multi‑task, meet strict deadlines and work under pressure. Willingness to learn and grow with the organization.
