Revenue Recovery Specialist I/II in Crescent City, CA | The County of Del North Tax Collector’s Department seeks a qualified candidate for a full‑time position. The role performs a full range of County collection functions in support of the County Tax Collector’s Office and services delinquent accounts for various County departments.

Responsibilities

Maintain and update account receivables in various computer programs.

Investigate delinquent accounts for collections of monies due and gather financial information from credit sources.

Locate absent taxpayers using a variety of methods and procedures.

Establish payment plans for delinquent tax payers.

Prepare levy notices to financial institutions against delinquent tax payers.

Assist the Assistant Treasurer‑Tax Collector in preparing for a Tax Deed Sale, reviewing and editing legal documents.

Field inquiries from the general public, realtors, title companies and mortgage companies related to property taxes and tax delinquency.

Collect payments, issue receipts, balance cash drawers, deposit collections into County Collector Trust and reconcile daily and monthly collections.

Prepare monthly distribution of payments, warrants to restitution victims and reports to referring departments.

Verify, enter, retrieve, correct, maintain, and update information in the computer collection system.

Assist other departmental personnel in performance of related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with college coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration or closely related field; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred and may be substituted for equivalent experience.

Two (2) years of responsible experience in government financial work and/or tax collection, including investigative methods, collection procedures, financial recordkeeping and cash handling for Level I; four (4) years for Level II.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license.
