Project Accountant
to manage the financial health of multiple active construction projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, the Accounting team, and Executive leadership to track budgets, maintain accurate cost reporting, and provide financial insight that supports project success. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in both accounting fundamentals and construction project operations. Key Responsibilities Project Financial Oversight Monitor project budgets, commitments, and actual costs. Prepare, review, and process billing for clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Track project cash flow, revenue recognition, and cost-to-complete forecasts. Partner with Project Managers to review financial performance and identify variances. Reporting & Analysis Prepare project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses. Support month-end close with project-related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Analyze project trends and provide actionable insights for management decisions. Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate financial records for subcontractor agreements, change orders, lien releases, and insurance certificates. Ensure compliance with company policies and construction accounting standards. Assist with internal and external audit preparation for project-level documentation. Handle other administrative tasks as needed to support project financial functions. Systems & Data Management Ensure data integrity across accounting and project management systems. Work within QuickBooks Contractor Edition (required) and Procore or similar platforms (preferred). Use Excel and reporting tools to create dashboards, metrics, and executive summaries. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum
5 years of experience
in
construction accounting or project accounting
(required). Proficiency in
Construction Accounting Software
(required). Experience with Procore or other construction/project management software (preferred). Advanced Excel skills, including reporting, pivot tables, and data analysis. Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail. Effective communicator with the ability to work across departments. Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
