Overview
Two (2) full-time positions available on or after November 10, 2025 in Financial Services. Under general direction of the University Accounting Manager, incumbents perform the full range of professional accounting that applies accounting principles to resolve a variety of functions or problems, with greater independence than lower levels. Accountants apply knowledge of GAAP in classifying, examining, and analyzing financial transactions. Job Duties
Assure proper recording and documentation of financial transactions and contribute to the audit process. Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports and records, including balance sheets, income statements, month-end and year-end closing processes. Make financial projections. Examine documents for conformance to policies, procedures, and GAAP. Compute and estimate effects of proposed changes on operating programs or accounting operations. Research and compile extensive financial data, querying and drilling on large data sets. Use integrated financial systems and other records management systems. Develop financial statements and reports; make budget projections. Interpret new and existing federal and state regulations relevant to the assigned area. Identify actual or potential problems and recommend corrective action; provide initial troubleshooting of financial systems problems and participate in system upgrades and testing. Reconcile account balances to external data, including student accounts receivable; provide consultative services to campus administrators on accounting problems. Document and maintain business processes, standards, and procedures; may train and guide other staff; may obtain additional training or certification as needed. May support other areas within the functional department as needed and provide work direction to others. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Education : Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance, or a closely related field, or a combination of education and experience providing the required knowledge and abilities. Experience : Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in higher education or CSU setting. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PeopleSoft. Experience preparing ad-hoc financial reports using database query tools (e.g., PS Query or Stanalytics). Experience preparing and analyzing reconciliations and journal entries. Experience with complex fund accounting in a multi-fund environment. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Thorough knowledge of GAAP and office methods, procedures, and statistical/mathematical presentation of data. General understanding of internal control methods. Working knowledge of federal student financial aid annual reporting and quarterly grant reporting requirements. Ability to interpret instructions and policy guidelines; analyze financial data; establish and maintain relationships; apply accounting principles to complex problems; prepare clear financial statements; and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Anticipated salary will be $5,178 - $5,495 per month plus excellent benefits. Salary will depend on qualifications. (Full range: Step 1 $5,178 - $7,543 per month).
