We’re seeking an experienced Accountant IV for a short-term, high-impact role with a respected Texas state agency, ideal for an accountant with state agency experience looking to make an immediate contribution and potentially take the next step in their career.

The State Accountant IV (Temporary)

role at Peak Performers is described as a temporary position within a state agency that licenses and regulates certified public accountants in Texas to ensure they meet professional and ethical standards. Responsibilities

Prepare monthly financial statements and reconciliations. Process payroll using CAPPS. Monitor and manage cash balances. Complete various mandatory reports throughout the year. Review and approve payment vouchers, deposits, MIP entries, and reconciliations. Perform journal entries, fund transfers, budget activities, and other general ledger functions. Work with automated accounting systems and ensure compliance with GAAP. Qualifications

4+ years of experience as an accountant or similar role within a Texas State Agency. Proven experience with reconciliations, journal entries, fund transfers, and budgeting. Experience with annual financial and non-financial reporting. Skills in fiscal year-end closeout and new-year startup processes. Proficiency with USAS, CAPPS, and MIP accounting systems. Strong analytical skills and attention to numerical detail. Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing tools. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (preferred, not required). Advanced experience with Texas state financial systems (USAS, CAPPS, MIP). Opportunity Details
