Savvy Wealth
About Savvy
Wealth management is a $545 billion industry in the US, yet remains archaic and inefficient with low technology penetration. 75% of financial advisors don’t offer digital communication beyond email, and 62% still build financial plans manually in Excel. This leads to a poor client experience and results in financial advisors spending over 70% of their time on non-client facing, manual work. Savvy is changing that by building a digital‑first platform that modernizes human financial advice, enabling advisors to scale faster, spend more time with clients, and rely on AI‑powered software, automated sales and marketing, and seamless back‑office workflows. The Role
The mission of the Controller at Savvy is to safeguard the firm’s financial integrity by overseeing accounting, reporting, and internal controls, ensuring accurate books and compliance in support of strategic growth. In addition, the Controller ensures strict adherence to SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory requirements on the broker‑dealer side, maintaining precise capital, reserve, and reporting standards while enabling the firm to operate efficiently, manage risk, and scale with confidence in a highly regulated environment. Responsibilities
Own the full monthly close across broker‑dealer and advisory entities, including GAAP financials, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Lead revenue recognition for advisory fees, brokerage activity, and intercompany allocations. Oversee collections, AR/AP operations, and cash management focusing on client fund flows and regulatory requirements. Manage regulatory and external audits, working closely with FINRA, SEC, and tax/compliance partners. Drive accounting system improvements, including migration from QuickBooks to NetSuite, and implement broker‑dealer specific controls. Establish and enforce internal policies to ensure regulatory compliance, risk management, and accuracy. Partner cross‑functional with Finance, Product, Operations, and Leadership to provide financial insights that support advisor adoption and platform scalability. Support firm‑wide budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and board‑level reporting. Must Have
10+ years of accounting/finance experience, including experience in a broker‑dealer, fintech, or wealth management environment. CPA with an audit background (Big 4 or similar) and expertise in financial services regulations. Experience scaling accounting and compliance functions in high‑growth startups. Deep understanding of GAAP, broker‑dealer accounting, revenue recognition, collections, and intercompany transfer pricing. Detail orientation and accuracy with the ability to explain financial concepts to non‑finance stakeholders. Thrives in a fast‑paced, regulated environment and can build scalable processes that withstand scrutiny. Nice to Have
Prior experience managing FINRA/SEC audits and regulatory reporting (e.g. FOCUS reports). Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks and leading migrations to NetSuite.
