Overview
The Department of Pediatric is recruiting for a Senior Research Assistant OR Research Assistant 2. Function/Duties of Position
This is a research position involving extensive work with patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models of pediatric solid cancers in immune-compromised laboratory mice, culturing and drug testing of PDX-derived cells; characterization of PDX tumors and cells by RNA/DNA sequencing, perform qPCR and Western blotting; analyze immunohistochemical assays including generation of publication quality imaging and quantification; help plan and implement collaborative projects with partner labs, including teaching relevant techniques; maintain lab spaces and assist with ordering and stocking lab; design and implement experiments with certain level of independency; responsible for writing and editing of manuscripts, laboratory protocols, such as IACUC, IBC; maintain proper laboratory records per institutional requirement. Attend weekly lab meetings and present your research upon request. Work involves possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids, presence of carcinogenic substances and human and animal tissues and fluids, including whole animals. Required Qualifications

Equivalent combination of training and experience. Tissue culture experience. The successful candidate will work in a lab setting and must have good communication skills, excellent recordkeeping and computer skills; and possess the ability to work independently while functioning within a team environment.
