Overview The Rutgers University- Newark (R U-N) Office of Communications reports to the RU‑N Chancellor’s office. We oversee external and internal communications, public/media relations, brand identity, communications/marketing strategy, the core RU‑N website, social media, and community engagement projects for the university.
Responsibilities
Coordinating and administering office operations, including preparing transactions, scheduling meetings, monitoring reports, tracking payroll, reconciling discrepancies, managing the invoicing system, and liaising with vendors and stakeholders
Managing projects by creating detailed plans and schedules, conducting research, producing reports and marketing materials, and following up with team members to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and within resources
Performing professional work that requires knowledge of administrative and project management practices, as well as the application of unit concepts, theories, and terminology
Working under direct supervision with specific instructions on routine or semi‑routine tasks, with work reviewed upon completion
Supporting the mission, vision, and goals of the Office of Campus Communications, with responsibilities aligned to the Administrative Assistant role in achieving unit objectives
Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing
Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy
Knowledge of Rutgers University enterprise systems (preferred)
Experience in database design and maintenance (preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (preferred)
Prior experience in higher education administration and project management (preferred)
Salary Details Minimum Salary: $52,602.48
Mid‑Range Salary: $64,788.98
Maximum Salary: $76,975.48
