Position Details
The Psychology Department at The City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in Fall 2026.
CCNY is a vibrant, diverse department located in Harlem, serving more than 2,000 undergraduate majors, with master’s programs in General Psychology and Mental Health Counseling, and an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. Our undergraduate program has a longstanding commitment to training students from underserved and minority populations. Students in our CASAC program fulfill educational requirements for NYS certification as counselors of substance use disorder.
We seek candidates who are committed to teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in our CASAC and master’s programs, with duties to include coordinating internship placements for students in these programs. In collaboration with the respective program directors, the Internship Coordinator's responsibilities will include outreach and communication with partnering internship/practicum supervisors, assisting students with securing placements, maintenance of records related to clinical hours, maintaining database of available sites, supporting students with troubleshooting, and ensuring that internship/practicum contracts are completed and mutually fulfilled.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to teach and mentor CASAC and counseling students. Successful applicants will contribute through teaching and mentorship/advisement duties and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments, including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of teaching experience
Proven ability to mentor CASAC and counseling students
Strong communication and organizational skills
Commitment to supporting diverse, underserved student populations
Departmental service, including administrative, supervisory, and committee responsibilities
Experience mentoring/advising students
Experience coordinating internships/practicums
Ability to provide academic and career advisement
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to Institutional goals
Ability to demonstrate teaching effectiveness
COMPENSATION Salary Range: $81,688 – $86,721 CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
