FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The Department of Physics at The City College of New York (CCNY) of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, anticipated to begin in Fall 2026. We seek candidates with expertise in experimental condensed matter physics, broadly defined, with emphasis on quantum materials and/or quantum optics and quantum information science. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program that complements and enhances existing departmental strengths and contributes to growing efforts in quantum science and technology at CCNY and across CUNY.
Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in physics, as well as mentoring and advising students at all levels.
CCNY is the flagship campus of CUNY, a public university system in New York City. The Department of Physics has internationally recognized research programs spanning condensed matter physics, photonics, particle physics, and biophysics. CCNY offers access to state‑of‑the‑art research facilities, including advanced characterization laboratories, shared nanofabrication facilities, and the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center. The College also fosters collaboration across multiple CUNY campuses and with leading local institutions in the New York metropolitan area.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work full‑time in the United States.
QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field is required.
Preferred Qualification
Postdoctoral research experience.
Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and student mentoring.
Ability to collaborate within CCNY, across CUNY, and with local research institutions.
COMPENSATION Salary Range: $90,838 - $102,017. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
