Urbana, US Job Description The Auerbach Lab is searching for a dedicated research technician to help us understand how the brain encodes sound information in health and disease. We are a neuroscience laboratory investigating the mechanisms of auditory perception and experience-dependent plasticity in the brain. In particular, we are focused on examining pathological changes to sound perception associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and noise-induced hearing loss. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

50% Assist in rodent care, husbandry, and genotyping. 30% Independently conduct and manage experiments including but not limited to behavioral testing, tissue sectioning, histology, and in vivo electrophysiological recordings 10% Assist in maintaining an organized laboratory environment including inventory management, instrument calibration, ordering of supplies, maintaining detailed experimental records, preparing/analyze data. 10% Facilitate communication of laboratory personnel and maintain experimental schedules. Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology or related field. Preferred Qualifications:

Animal husbandry Behavioral testing including but not limited to operant/instrumental conditioning behavioral paradigms Molecular biology techniques such as PCR, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Computer programming proficiency in Python, R, and/or MATLAB. Application Deadline:
