The IBM AS/400 Administrator will possess core technical skills and experience related to the
IBM i Operating System
in the following areas:
1. IBM i Architecture and System Management
Deep understanding of the IBM i architecture and object-based file system.
Proficiency in
CL (Control Language)
commands and scripting.
Familiarity with system menus, command-line operations, and
Navigator for i
or
Access Client Solutions (Client) .
Experience managing
system configurations, libraries, subsystems,
and
device descriptions .
2. System Monitoring and Performance
Expertise in
monitoring tools
and techniques.
Ability to analyze
CPU, memory,
and
job queue performance metrics .
Skills in
performance tuning
to ensure optimal system efficiency.
3. Backup and Recovery Management
Experience in
backup and recovery configuration
and administration.
Knowledge of
Disaster Recovery planning, testing,
and
execution .
Familiarity with
High Availability (HA)
solutions.
Proficiency in managing
backup schedules, tape devices,
and
media libraries .
4. System Maintenance and Integration
Experience with
system upgrades and maintenance .
Proficiency in
database administration
within the AS/400 environment.
Strong understanding of
networking and connectivity
principles.
Experience integrating IBM AS/400 systems with
modern platforms .
5. Professional and Interpersonal Skills
