This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Lead, plan, document, schedule, and coordinate systems patching, and application releases and upgrades.
Coordinate with contractors, stakeholders, management, and other technical teams to ensure smooth transitions to upgraded systems.
Develop and maintain procedures for enterprise application systems administration.
Document processes and technical specifications for systems and applications, provide cross training and consulting to technical staff.
Respond to problem calls, troubleshoot problems, and provide customer support and technical assistance for Linux-based systems and enterprise applications. Collaborate with Data Center staff, other TCEQ technical support staff, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
Plan, document, and implement, and/or lead the implementation of operating systems and software security measures.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience installing, maintaining, or administering Linux or UNIX operating system environments.
Experience with configuring or administering enterprise applications in a Linux or UNIX environment.
Experience in providing technical-based customer service.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree in an information technologies or related field from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
OR Completion of 15 semester hours in information technologies from an accredited college, plus five (5) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
OR Six (6) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
All the above experience options must have included successful completion of two (2) years as a full-time UNIX, LINUX, Novell, or Windows Server Systems Administrator in a multi-platform environment.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
