Job Summary The OT Network Administrator will primarily be responsible for the design, development, and monitoring of OT/ICS environments and performing risk vulnerability assessments in collaboration with internal I/E engineers, IT, and external resources. Serves as technical resource/expert to operations and maintenance for troubleshooting and problem-solving. Responsible for the evaluation and implementation of projects to optimize network communications with strong focus on safety, cybersecurity, compliance, integrity, and reliability.

The OT Network Administrator will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely, as business needs allow.

Responsibilities

Must be able to handle assignments and projects with minimal supervision and complete within acceptable time standards

Troubleshoot operational issues by working with all levels of personnel including operators, mechanics, engineers, supervisors, managers, etc. and devising new and innovative approaches to solve problems

Develop and execute governance and oversight processes that ensure OT policies, standards and guidelines are consistently practiced across the enterprise

Perform day‑to‑day monitoring of operations security and cybersecurity, including reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting reports from various systems to identify anomalies, trends, threats or breaches

Engineer and implement in‑house, or work with a third party to produce reliable automation and cybersecurity solutions to meet the needs of the business. Activities include but are not limited to Device selection, Flow Charts and control narratives, Project Schedules, Scope of work, and Cost estimates

Serve as network, communications, and controls subject matter expert on local engineering teams

Serve as a high‑level technical support resource for complex automation and communication issues

Maintain all control and security related programs and documentation including PLC programs, HMI programs, Network mapping and addressing.

Must be proficient in developing project budgets and controlling costs.

Prepares appropriate documentation (such as Authorization for Expenditure documentation, cost estimates, and construction turnover packages) for assigned projects. Conducts and/or participates in field optimization and feasibility studies as well as expansion studies.

Works with company SMEs to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable NIST, DHS, DOT, other security / environmental / safety regulations and company processes and procedures.

Implements appropriate provisions into operations and maintenance procedures to ensure compliance. Ensures area of responsibility is compliant with security, safety, environmental and other company guidelines, policies, etc.

Available after hours and on weekends when necessary to support critical projects, processes, and systems

Licenses / Certifications

Cisco Certified Network Associate

Palo Alto Cybersecurity Apprentice

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cyber Security, or Engineering and minimum 2 years’ experience assessing, designing, and implementing IC/OT network architectures OR High School Diploma and minimum 10 years’ experience assessing, designing, and implementing IC/OT network architectures

Familiar with design, maintenance, protection, and troubleshooting of operations technologies including industrial control systems (ICS) hardware and software.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks for IC/OT environments (ISA-99/IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82, CIS, etc.)

Possessing an in‑depth understanding of infrastructure and network architecture and design, LAN/WAN implementation, and Windows/Linux environments

Knowledge of operational technologies such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) system design and implementation and other communications media used in transmitting data from the RTU

Knowledge of process control design, implementation, and troubleshooting

Broad knowledge of automation and electrical devices and equipment

Knowledge of personal computers and windows operating systems

Knowledge of working with virtual machines

Advanced knowledge of communications networks and radios

Ability to produce network diagrams, process flow diagrams, using Microsoft Visio

Ability to effectively cooperate with personnel of different backgrounds and skill level

Ability to train and transfer knowledge to others

Strong ability to create and maintain relevant documentation

Ability to manage OT/IT network segregation including firewall support

Travel 10‑15% to Eagleford Shale (EFS), Canada and Gulf of America (GOA) Platforms

Desired / Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 2 years’ experience in oil/gas

Knowledge of oil and gas production facilities and pipeline design and analysis, familiar with industry standards, codes, practices, and DOT pipeline safety regulations
