Fiber Installation Technician (Cable Installer) work both inside and outside the home and are responsible for the installation and customer experience of the new Broadband integrated digital TV, high speed Internet and voice services. Company

Connecting fiber optic jumpers and drops (AERIAL, BURIED AND PLENUM) May require running of temporary fiber drop in a manner that does not pose a safety hazard to the public Splicing of fiber drop connectors Installation of ONT and power supplies Installations may require running or reusing COAX or CAT5 wiring Installations may require burying CAT5/COAX up to 50 ft. Verification of service Installation of Internet hubs and routers Utilization of MOCA technology where applicable Installation may include CAT5 buried drops up to 50 ft Configuration of customer-owned computers Educating customers about Internet access and video products (if applicable) Verification of service If video service is ordered, install COAX to TV boxes, run CAT5E from routers to network interface modules, perform DB loss readings, activate set top boxes and program remote controls Educate customers on video products and services Job Requirements
Valid state driver’s license and non-negligent driving record Meet safety weight limit (275 lbs) and be able to lift/move up to 100 lbs Flexible hours; some days may extend beyond normal hours, including weekends/holidays Pass pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen Ability to visually perceive differences in wire/cable colors Ability to complete on-the-job and/or classroom training to remain competitive On-call/on-standby availability as workload requires Special Requirements
Knowledge of computer operating systems (e.g., MS 98SE, 2000, XP and above) Experience cabling electronic components (modems, routers, TVs, home entertainment systems) Experience with CAT5 and COAX wiring Ability to provide quality customer service to internal and external customers Ability to identify sales opportunities and promote/close products and services Basic electricity knowledge related to telecommunications (voltage, current, resistance, power, grounding, insulation, Ohm’s Law) and basic electrical components Knowledge of hand and power tools Ability to work well with others and independently in the field Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Physical Demands
Standing, talking, hearing, using hands, reaching with arms Occasional walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, standing, stooping, kneeling, driving, reaching, smelling Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods and lift/carry up to 100 pounds Good vision including color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Work Environment
Work outdoors in inclement weather; near moving mechanical parts; exposure to wet/humid conditions and vibration Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and risk of electrical shock Equal Opportunity
