Job Title:

Account Manager II (South San Francisco) — Remote-based within the region. Reports to: Regional Sales Manager.

FLSA Class:

Exempt. Takara Bio USA, Inc. (TBUSA) is seeking an Account Manager II to achieve revenue targets by managing and growing a defined set of strategic customer accounts within the South San Francisco territory. The role emphasizes long-term relationship development, expanding opportunities in existing accounts, and value-based selling across a broad portfolio of products. The position is remote-based and requires residency within the identified ideal location(s) of the region. Approximately 50% travel, including overnight, may be required. Responsibilities

Demonstrates ongoing success in achieving sales targets by managing a portfolio of customer accounts with a focus on expanding relationships, increasing product adoption, and driving revenue growth across assigned accounts. Employs tactical plans to manage day-to-day activities towards long-term sales success. Maintains an advanced level of product and marketplace knowledge. Communicates complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively, adapting messaging for technical and non-technical audiences. Applies consultative selling techniques to identify, advance and close opportunities. Identify new opportunities within existing accounts, such as upselling and cross-selling products, to drive sales growth and account retention. Analyzes sales data to identify trends and inform decision-making; prioritizes high-impact activities. Uses CRM tools to build and execute account plans, manage pipeline activities, and document all customer interactions; creates reports and dashboards to measure plans. Collaborates cross-functionally with internal partners to enhance messaging and align product positioning. Assesses customer feedback and provides analysis of customer experience to internal partners. Provides timely, proactive communication and high-quality service to customers. Applies problem-solving and critical thinking to overcome objections and support complex decisions. Contributes to team development by mentoring new account managers and supporting onboarding with a focus on technical knowledge and sales processes. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications

BS, MS, or PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related life science field. 2–4 years of successful sales or account management experience in the life science tools industry. 2–4 years of hands-on laboratory experience in molecular or cell biology. Proven ability to manage and grow strategic customer accounts while meeting or exceeding revenue targets. Strong scientific foundation with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively. Advanced selling and presentation skills; experience navigating complex sales cycles and competitive environments. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce.com) to manage account plans, pipelines, and customer engagement. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record. Self-driven and able to work independently and with cross-functional teams in a remote environment. Additional Information

Base salary range: US$120,000 - $135,000 per year, located near South San Francisco/San Francisco, CA; this range may change. This base salary excludes bonus and benefits.
