Position Overview
We’re seeking a Controller / Senior Accountant to oversee all aspects of accounting and financial operations. This role manages the full accounting cycle, runs payroll, and partners closely with the business planning team to support data-driven decision making.
Expertise in NetSuite is essential. Experience with Gusto or similar payroll platforms is highly preferred, along with a strong understanding of benefits administration, deductions, and compliance. Candidates with a background in jewelry, fashion, or consumer goods will thrive in this role.
Accounting & Reporting
Manage daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
Maintain and optimize NetSuite for all accounting, reconciliations, and reporting.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls.
Run biweekly payroll through Gusto, including setup, changes, and compliance.
Manage employee benefits, deductions, and year-end filings.
Ensure accuracy across payroll, benefits, and accounting systems.
Partner with the business planning team to forecast sales, margins, and cash flow.
Support CEO in budgeting, analysis, and scenario modeling.
Monitor expenses, cost of goods, and profitability by channel.
Coordinate with external CPA firm on tax filings, audits, and annual close.
Process & Controls
Strengthen accounting procedures and automate reporting through NetSuite.
Ensure timely month-end and year-end close.
Continuously improve efficiency across accounting workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with operations, merchandising, and planning teams to align financial data with inventory and product performance.
Provide clear insights for purchasing, pricing, and margin decisions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Advanced proficiency in NetSuite required.
Experience running payroll and benefits through Gusto (or similar platform).
Strong understanding of payroll compliance, deductions, and benefits reporting.
Excellent Excel and analytical skills.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
Jewelry, fashion, or consumer goods experience preferred.
Must be available to work in the Los Angeles office 5 days per week.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 (based on experience)
