Boutique firm managing ~1,000 doors and $300M in assets

About Us We are a fast-growing property management and asset management firm with a portfolio of 1,000 doors and $300 million under management. As a boutique firm, we combine institutional-level discipline with the personalized attention and culture of a small team. Our mission is to protect and grow the wealth of our investors and clients by operating with integrity, excellence, and long-term vision.

The Role We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our financial operations and help build the systems that will support our next phase of growth. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for end-to-end financial management — from rent collections and AP/AR, to monthly close, audits, and investor reporting. As a key part of our executive team, you’ll partner with ownership to ensure financial accuracy, transparency, and scalability as we continue to expand.

Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting operations, including AR/AP, rent collections, vendor payments, bank reconciliations, and payroll.

Manage the monthly close process, ensuring accurate, timely P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.

Prepare and deliver owner/investor financial packets, including variance reports, NOI analysis, and distribution calculations.

Lead preparation of audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting with CPAs and auditors.

Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure GAAP compliance.

Partner with leadership to create and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash management strategies.

Implement process improvements and accounting technology solutions (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, QuickBooks/Intacct).

Qualifications

CPA or CMA preferred, with 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience (real estate industry strongly preferred).

Strong knowledge of GAAP, audits, and financial reporting. Proficiency with property management/accounting platforms (AppFolio, Quickbooks, Yardi, or similar).

Proven ability to implement controls, systems, and processes that scale.

Experience in multifamily or commercial property management is highly valued.

Detail-oriented, yet able to see the big picture and drive strategic financial decisions.

Why Join Us

Opportunity to build and shape the financial backbone of a firm growing toward 5,000 doors and beyond.

Work directly with ownership and leadership on strategic decisions.

Be part of a values-driven, small team culture with the resources of a much larger platform.

Competitive compensation, performance incentives, and long-term growth opportunities.
