Responsible for supporting field sales organization in growing and closing profitable sales of corrugated packaging solutions. Provides expertise and skill to field sales reps in how to increase sales with new and existing customers by creating value through custom corrugated designs, finding cost savings, and improving packaging processes. Responsible for driving success and making improvements in alignment with the group strategy for increasing profitability, growing sales & margins, and reducing costs associated with our corrugated packaging business.
Job Responsibilities
Assists field sales reps in finding & closing new corrugated and folding carton business with existing customers & prospects
Works to increase profitable sales within corporation in collaboration with Design Centers, Sales Managers, Sales Representatives (all segments), Sourcing, Logistics/Operation Managers and other Sales Specialists.
Develop new business in the assigned geography by targeting key accounts in collaboration with sales managers and with field sales representatives in customer accounts.
Ensure that corrugated and folding carton sales pipeline is maintained with appropriate $ value of opportunities to achieve the sales growth objectives for assigned territory. Also, responsible for being sure the pipeline is maintained with complete, accurate, and timely details pertaining to each opportunity, in collaboration with primary sales rep.
Visits and surveys major customers, prospects facilities and develops cost reduction alternatives to current customer practices – also aids in presenting the new concepts and alternatives to customers and responds to their questions or needs as appropriate to improve our chances of gaining their business.
Supports unit sales plan through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting activities. Responsible for gaining an understanding of customer's business and determining customer’s system and product needs.
Prepares and presents technical proposals of how Veritiv Corp.’s products can meet those needs and be integrated and implemented with the customer's systems and equipment.
Supports sales and operations in improving CAS related to corrugated items and insuring corrugated out of warehouse is optimized for best efficiency.
Conducts post-sale activities which include gathering data on customer and participating in keeping customer informed on how products can meet changing business needs.
Provides training to sales, customer service, and merchandising on topics related to corrugated & folding carton sales
Provides technical sales support to assure successful customer integration and implementation of established organization products.
Develop/manage positive local relationships between corrugated suppliers, sheet plants, and other vendors; makes suggestions regarding rationalization of new/existing vendors. Rationalization of any local suppliers must meet approval of Director of Sourcing and Director of Sales, for Corrugated.
Will coordinate any customer samples needed with corrugated designers and sample departments.
Will be responsible for attaining Corrugated goals as provided by Director of Sales, Corrugated & Folding Cartons.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Education:
Strong communication and presentation skills are required
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and technically challenging assignments simultaneously
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and assignments
Must be creative and innovative
Takes initiative, strong desire learn/expand skills
10+ years of corrugated & folding carton sales experience is required
BS/BA degree degree or equivalent work experience required.
Sales experience working with fiber based packaging including paperboard, corrugated and laminated fiber/film substrates required
Have extensive corrugated sales background, additionally with corrugated manufacturing and structural design experience preferred
Experience in fiber packaging design & graphics preferred
Understanding of distribution business desired
Position requires 50-75% travel
