185 working days. Salary Range *$54,000 to $82,320 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience) *The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly. Position Overview The High School Choir and Drama Teacher is responsible for developing students' musical and theatrical talents, fostering a love for the performing arts, and guiding students through performance-based learning experiences. This role includes teaching vocal music, directing choirs, producing theatrical performances, and integrating artistic skills into a structured curriculum. Job Responsibilities Teach vocal techniques, sight-reading, music theory, and ensemble performance. Plan and conduct concerts and music performances. Select appropriate and diverse musical repertoire. Teach acting, script analysis, stagecraft, and theater history. Direct school plays or musicals, including casting, rehearsals, and performances. Oversee technical aspects of productions, such as set design, lighting, and costumes (or coordinate with a tech crew). Encourage student creativity through improvisation, scene work, and writing. Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. Assess student progress through performances, participation, and written work. Collaborate with other teachers and departments on interdisciplinary projects. Maintain communication with parents, administration, and the community. Desired Qualifications & Core Competencies Experience teaching choir and/or drama at the high school level. Skills in vocal instruction, choral conducting, and piano (preferred). Experience directing plays or musicals. Strong classroom management and instructional skills. Creative and inclusive approach to teaching the arts. Leadership in rehearsals and productions. Excellent organization and time management. Effective communicator and team collaborator. Commitment to diversity and student engagement. Flexible, professional, and growth-oriented. Necessary Credentials Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution in Music, Drama, Theater orrelated field of study. MUST have an active Colorado Teaching License in Secondary Music, Drama, Theater,[or similar] or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. If additional coursework or a preparation program is required, the applicant must provide proof of enrollment and submission of the required documentation to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) within 30 days of employment. Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Physical Requirements May include, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.
