Overview
Pastor for Missions & Outreach at The Falls Church Anglican. The Pastor for Missions and Outreach has a burning passion for the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20), a shepherd’s heart to address the needs of neighbors (Matthew 25:40-43), and a Spirit-led fervor to mobilize the church and develop leaders to bear witness to proclaim the Gospel (Acts 1:8). In coordination with the Rector and the Executive Director, responsible for the development of the church’s strategic vision and initiatives around local outreach and engagement, international missions, and church planting. Provides leadership and teaching to the congregation, communicating a Biblical vision for missions and fruitful service in response to the Great Commission and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40). Devotes special attention to mobilizing initiatives among local, national, and international groups that are amongst the least evangelized.
Responsibilities Implement and support the department’s ministry plans — Oversees the full scope of The Falls Church Anglican’s Missions and Outreach ministry, providing vision and leadership to all staff and volunteers associated with local, national, and world outreach ministries.
Lead the church into deeper evangelism and service — Organize and lead regular evangelism training and Christianity Explored; organize and facilitate annual churchwide events focused on serving the church (Serve – September) and serving the community (Sent – January).
Exercise leadership and teaching gifts — Help the congregation embrace a holistic Biblical theology of mission by: preaching on mission as requested, planning outreach-focused events, providing training in cross-cultural ministry and evangelism, encouraging outreach initiatives, and shepherding those sensing a call to the mission field.
Timothy Program 2.0 — With the Rector, Executive Director, and Pastor for Discipleship, help develop the next generation of pastors and church planters in the Anglican Church of North America.
Work with staff, volunteers, and participants — Ensure adequate staffing, recruit and supervise volunteers, foster communication and spiritual growth, and advise the Vestry on strategic mission investments.
Pastoral team — Available to serve at worship events, assist in liturgy, teaching, and pastoral duties such as marriage preparation, weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
Qualifications 5+ years of experience in pastoral care and pastoral counseling and/or missionary service
3+ years of experience in planning and management of staff and volunteers
Graduate-level theological training (e.g., M.Div, Th.M., etc.)
Ordained in the Anglican Communion or open to it
BA in related field; advanced degree preferred
Basic office technology skills; satisfactory background check
