Overview

This is a NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION for a Police Officer, Position Description Number D2155000, located at 165th Security Forces Squadron in Garden City, GA. This is a full-time, Excepted, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration:

As a

Police Officer, GS-0083-06 , you will perform and enforce the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Responsibilities include apprehending and detaining violators, serving at fixed posts or patrolling, responding to emergencies (including active shooter, suspicious persons, catastrophic events, scenes of crimes, natural disasters, and enemy attacks), and carrying out specialized techniques for search and apprehension, counterterrorism, or counter violence. You may act as on-scene commander for significant events and perform traffic duties, including directing traffic and escorting dignitaries. Enforce rules and regulations governing access, security, and safety; protect lives and property; escort persons and valuables; drive emergency vehicles; prepare incident reports. Serve as a Security Forces Dispatcher for the installation: dispatch personnel and equipment, monitor posts and alarm systems, coordinate with civilian agencies, use information systems (SFMIS and FBI NCIC), maintain records, secure confiscated items, interview witnesses, and transmit instructions. Perform Base Entry Controller duties and vehicle inspections to ensure proper identification and security at gates. Conduct background checks, operate entry passes, and oversee anti-terrorism measures and force protection duties. Defend installation resources as part of security teams and participate in quick reaction forces. Verify credentials, manage sensor systems, respond to alarms, and document intrusion responses. Conditions of employment

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED Membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state’s National Guard is required prior to placement. Selected candidate must wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes agreement with these requirements. Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Direct deposit participation is mandatory. For positions requiring motor vehicle operation, a valid state driver’s license is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment; individuals with qualifying DV crimes may not perform duties. Ability to establish effective professional relationships with coworkers and customers. Irregular/overtime hours may be required to support operations or contingencies. The duties may impact the environment; maintain awareness of environmental responsibilities as required by law and mission. Qualifications

General Experience : Experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work involving protecting property, data, or materials; or applying rules, regulations, or laws. Specialized Experience : At least 12 months at the next lower level with knowledge of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, and responsibilities for maintaining order and protecting life and property. This can include police work, military police, visitor protection, or related law enforcement experience; must be at least 1 year at the next lower grade. Education

Substitution of Education for specialized experience:

A full 4-year bachelor’s degree in Police Science or related field meets GS-5 requirements. Successful completion of a police academy or comparable training with at least 40 classroom hours may substitute for up to 3 months of specialized experience. Additional information
