Overview
SY 25-26 Middle School Mathematics Teacher – Georgia Cyber Academy. The role involves delivering Middle Grades Band Mathematics (8th Grade) content in an online environment, providing an engaging educational experience through data-driven, student-centered instruction and partnerships with families and the community. Responsibilities
Implements instructional strategies that stimulate learning and increase student engagement. Creates instructional resources to meet the varying needs of students. Takes ownership for student progress and attendance, communicates high expectations, and shows active interest in achievement. Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests. Analyzes student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed. Participates in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth. Collaborates with local/regional/national teams and instructional coaches regarding instruction, resources, interventions and data-driven decision making. Open and available to be coached on a regular basis with administrators and instructional coaches. Adapts course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using asynchronous and synchronous tools. Submits grades and required student work, maintaining academic honesty and integrity; maintains grade book. Relationship Building
Collaborates with parents and colleagues to manage goals, curriculum, and materials that enhance the learning experience. Actively participates in Professional Learning Communities (or professional development). Hosts live synchronous sessions that promote a positive learning environment. Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents. Understands how diverse characteristics of students and families impact required support. Works with other teachers to ensure student progression and serves as a primary contact point for parents, distributing tasks among stakeholders. Responds to students, parents and colleagues in a timely manner. Other Essential Functions
Organizes social and educational activities for students and families, including virtual clubs and events as required. Travels to testing sites to proctor state exams. Builds community; supports enrollment or retention efforts as directed; participates in committees as required. Student success will be measured by assessment data, parent and student satisfaction, and institutional growth. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six (6) months of student teaching experience, and meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Appropriate state teaching certification in MGB Math. Other Required Qualifications
Pedagogical knowledge of content and critical thinking. Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align with K-12 curriculum. Ability to adapt to maintain excellent student outcomes; able to problem solve independently; highly organized. Ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects and maintain integrity for others’ deadlines. Ability to work independently typically 40+ hours per week. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distractions during work day (typical hours 9-5 or as defined). Ability to travel ~10% of the time for professional development and testing as required. Access to reliable high-speed internet. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn new technologies quickly. Ability to pass required background checks and maintain teacher certification/professional development hours. Desired Qualifications
Experience with the proposed age group. Experience supporting adults and students in technology use. Experience in a virtual environment and/or brick-and-mortar settings. Experience with Blackboard Collaborate or other online platforms. Work Environment
