Health and Safety Environmental Technician

The HSE Technician is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and auditing of the HSE management system, plans and specific programs including ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal environmental requirements and Hutchinson and Total guidelines and requirements. Remain abreast of all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) laws, codes of practice and standards for the area and Hutchinson and Total guidelines and requirements. Ensure HSE compliance with all local, state and federal health, safety and environmental standards/regulations and Hutchinson and Total guidelines and requirements. Prepare and submit required applications, documentation and reports to appropriate regulatory or corporate groups. Working with HSE Director and plant manager, to develop and manage the site HSE targets and goals. Assist with the development and implementation of appropriate location Emergency Response systems by working with the plant and corporate management teams. Support of the corporate Crisis/Business Plan as required. Working with Human Resources, assist in all site incident/accident and near miss investigations. Coordinate with Human Resources all reporting to alert system and Carto. Actively participate in site formal and informal communication to increase and enhance the understanding and awareness of HSE issues. Develop and coordinate HSE training programs to the workforce and management. Providing assistance for the maintenance and training requirements for HazCom, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Arc Flash, Fire Evacuation, Spill Control, Hazardous Materials, etc. Conduct periodic HSE inspections/audits, as required. Specifically to ensure the implementation and maintenance of the SafeRing/Inescapable principles as well as Total's 12 Golden Rules. Document and follow-up to ensure corrective actions are implemented. Oversee and participate in HSE certification programs, such as ISO14001, ISO 50001 certification programs. Serve as Management Representative as required. Responsible for the application of Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) programs. These include but are not limited to: loss prevention, risk management activities, industrial hygiene, energy conservation, site security, compliance auditing, emergency response, HSE training, incident investigation and data trending and analysis. Provide resources and information to employees and management as needed. Provide technical direction for developing procedures and work instructions for HSE policies, laws and practices both for HBS personnel and contractors. Desired Skills and Experience: Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from a college or university in environmental engineering, safety engineering or related science field plus 3 to 7 years experience. Prior experience in molded and extruded rubber products in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
