Overview
Position Title: Correctional Officer - Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (Pendleton) Relocation Assistance Agency: Oregon Department of Corrections Location: Pendleton, Oregon This is an entry-level Correctional Officer role. DOC offers a Basic Corrections Course (BCC) training; relocation assistance may be paid in some cases. The announcement is for Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton, with other locations available in Oregon via separate announcements. Responsibilities
Maintain order within the institution, enforce rules and regulations, and provide care to ensure safety and security for adults in custody. Assist in facilitating positive change in the lives of adults in custody; monitor activities and supervise work assignments; perform cell checks and searches for contraband; settle disputes and enforce discipline as required. Observe, inspect, and report on safety, sanitation, and fire hazards; participate in routine inspections. Minimum Qualifications
Possess a high school diploma or GED Be 21 years of age or older United States citizen Meet DPSST Physical Standards Possess reading comprehension, report writing, and retention abilities Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation (OAR 259-008-0015) Special Qualifications
Must pass NTN test with a minimum score of 70 percent in all areas Good employee work history Have a history of law-abiding behavior (OAR 259-008-0070) Pass a psychological evaluation and risk assessment as required by HB 2936 No evidence of substance abuse Proficient using computers; must possess a valid driver\'s license All applicants and employees are subject to testing for prohibited drugs Required and Requested Skills

You will work in a team setting to maintain order within the institutions, enforce rules, and provide care to ensure safety and security. You will help adults in custody be orderly and obey agency guidelines, monitor activities, supervise assignments, conduct searches for contraband, settle disputes, and enforce discipline as needed. Routine observations, inspections, and reporting of safety and fire hazards are required. About The Department

Step 3: DOC will review and process your application, including a criminal history check from multiple sources. Step 4: Complete electronic Statement of Personal History (eSOPH) within 14 days as guided by email; provide information for the past ten years for each topic. References are required. Step 5: DOC will contact you to complete background investigations. Step 6: If selected, you will undergo a pre-employment medical exam and a psychological evaluation per DPSST requirements. Successful candidates must pass CJIS fingerprint-based background checks and maintain CJIS eligibility. Some felony convictions may disqualify applicants.
