The Language and Culture Studies Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our American Sign Language (ASL) Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed). Part-time faculty must be able to teach first and second-year American Sign Language and culture courses. Depending upon need and adjunct availability, an adjunct could teach a minimum of 3 credit hours up to a maximum of 9 credit hours in a semester. Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students and reply to student communications in a timely manner; and (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year. Essential Functions On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses. Using best practices, continually evaluate student coursework. Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of their responsibilities. Review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related and student communications. Other related duties as assigned. Required Education Bachelor’s degree Required Experience One (1) year of previous teaching experience Additional Qualifications Considered National Interpreter Certification, Certified Deaf Interpreter or ASLTA Certification. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree specifically in Deaf Studies, ASL, Deaf/Special Education, Second Language Instruction, Interpreting, or another specialization in these areas. Teaching experience specifically at the college level.
