CLICK HERE Job Summary: Deputy Sheriffs in the Detention Division are responsiblefor protecting the public and providing institutional safety of adult offendersin the Douglas County Jail. Dutiesinclude: Preparea variety of reports, records, affidavits, and logs as required tomaintain office activities Transport,book and process prisoners; supervise jail and provide security for courts Investigateincidents and prepare detailed reports Gatherand preserve evidence Secureand process crime scenes Arrestsuspects and testify in court Maintainpublic order and safety Required Equipment: Deputy Sheriffs are required to supply their own dutyhandgun and limited personal equipment (undershirts, duty boots, flashlight)prior to being sworn in. Minimum Qualifications: Mustbe a United States citizen or legal permanent resident who is lawfullypresent in the United States pursuant to Federal Law and § 24-76.5-103,C.R.S. Mustpossess a current

Basic Colorado POST Certification

or currentlyattending a CO POST recognized basic academy with a scheduled graduationdate. Provisional CO POST Certifications NOT accepted at this time. Atleast 21 years of age Highschool diploma or GED ValidColorado driver’s license Abilityto pass various qualifying exams and a pre-employment backgroundinvestigation Abilityto pass polygraph, psychological, and medical exams Abilityto perform under stress and perform physical tests consistent with lawenforcement requirements to include running, climbing barriers, jumpingover, or climbing under or through obstacles and performing strenuousphysical activity. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
