Teach ESOL courses, plan, develop, and deliver courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning and achievement of course objectives. Teach on a part-time basis as needed by the System. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year. Classes are offered at various times and locations. Essential Job Functions

Teaches ESOL courses at a variety of times and locations Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines Meets with and advises students before/after class or by appointment and via electronic communication Evaluates students and communicates progress promptly Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required Performs other related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Mastery of course content Demonstrated leadership skills; collaborative, teamwork-focused Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with diverse groups and appreciate alternative viewpoints Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies Commitment to academic excellence and student success Experience with instructional approaches such as service learning and distance learning Ability to engage students effectively Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary with potential light movement (standing, walking, bending). No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule and Conditions

Work environment includes a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab Hours vary based on class times; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available outside of class as needed Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Second Language Acquisition, Linguistics, or English (with appropriate TESOL-related coursework or credentials as specified); or equivalent combination of education and ESOL teaching experience 12 hours of coursework in TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Second Language Acquisition, and Linguistics; or appropriate teaching certificates (CELTA, DELTA) or relevant experience Salary
