Overview
Position: Permanency Specialist (UMP) - Champaign | Department: Department of Children and Family Services | Working Title: PERMANENCY SPECIALIST (UMP) - CHAMPAIGN We are seeking an organized, professional, and results-oriented individual to serve as a Permanency Specialist. Under general supervision, this position provides professional child welfare casework services to children and families, determines needs, and coordinates placement of children in substitute care facilities. The role includes interviewing clients and professionals to obtain information for ongoing diagnosis of problems and development of treatment plans. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the safety and stability of children and youth in Illinois. Responsibilities
Provide experienced professional casework services to children and families as a Permanency Specialist. Work with intact families and children in home and/or substitute care settings. Conduct interviews with clients and professionals to obtain information for diagnosis and development of treatment plans. Transport clients when taking protective custody, placing them in substitute care, or changing placement locations. Prepare and maintain case documentation for planning, implementation, and evaluation of services. Participate in case staffings and multi-disciplinary conferences to assess needed services and facilitate case transfer. Perform other duties as required within the scope of the position. Minimum Qualifications
Preferably a master’s degree in social work; or a master’s degree in a related human service field with one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work with one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related human service field with two years of directly related professional casework/case management experience. The degree program must be accredited; the social work degree program must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education. Related professional experience should be in family preservation, family reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling, advocacy services, or a related field. Conditions of Employment
Requires a valid driver’s license, daily access to an automobile, and proof of vehicle insurance. Ability to pass a background check. Requires physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform duties. Overtime may be required; ability to work evenings, weekends, and in a 24-hour on-call capacity. About the Agency
