| Location: Central Services Building | Full-Time | Regular The Educational Interpreter is primarily responsible for facilitating communication among Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, hearing peers, classroom teachers, and other school personnel. Interpreters provide interpreting and support services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students mainstreamed in the school district. Additional duties may include tutoring, meeting participation, and active involvement on the school educational team, provided they do not interfere with interpreting. Qualifications

Provides expressive and voice interpreting for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in mainstream classes, including American Sign Language, Manually Coded English, Pidgin Signed English, and/or Oral Interpreting. Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, provide tutoring services as necessary of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students when it does not interfere with the task of interpreting. Assist with the set-up of mote taking services for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students when necessary. Participate in educational team activities, including team meetings, parent/teacher conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings, and informal staffing. Provide information regarding communication strategies and progress related to the child's use of the interpreter. Serve as a liaison to promote good public relations between Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, hearing peers, staff, and faculty members. Lead or assist in providing in-services to hearing students, staff, and parents as requested regarding sign language. Provide interpreting for school functions outside of the classroom, extracurricular activities, and parent meetings when available. Interpreting services provided outside of normal school hours are compensated accordingly. Maintain professional standards as delineated in the Code of Ethics of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan. Performs other duties as assigned. Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The salary range for the ASL Interpreter (DHH) position starts at

$44,377.65

and increases according to a set salary schedule based on years of work experience in the field. This position follows a 10-month/2187 workday schedule during the school year (7 hours per day). Equal Employment Opportunity
